Mount Nemrut and its Giants. We are in Turkey, on the peak, cone shaped, of the highest point in Northern Mesopotamia, leaning on the faraway valleys of Tigris and Euphrates. That was the time of the kingdom of Commagene, a small Hellenistic state which remained independent until it was made a Roman province during the 1st Century A.D..
